Stuff I Make
It’s early. The rhino-sized hadedas have set the alarm off at 5am 3 days in a row and I’m starting to lose my nerve. I can’t get back to sleep, so I decided I’d write something. I’ve been doing pottery for 6 months now and my Tuesday night lesson is my happy place. A welcome escape from the corporate world of money-making and hierarchical bullsh*t. It’s refreshing to work with ones hands and actually create the teapot you need instead of buying it from Country Road Homeware. My lessons are with Anne Rimbault who also does workshops, team-building, hens parties and commission work.
Here are some of the things I’ve made…

January 27, 2011These are so cool! You’re really good – I’ve seen what comes out of pottery classes and this is way better than the average! I’ve been trying to think of a new project/course for myself this year, maybe I should try… :)

January 28, 2011Thanks Carmia, really appreciate the kind words. It helps having a teacher that’s open-minded and encouraging. I’ve heard of some nightmare lessons where students are only allowed to work in white, aren’t allowed to produce ‘wonky ware’ etc. Bollocks! Besides making stuff that you can actually use, it’s also a great way to meet new people. I’d recommend pottery highly.
