I’m not normally one for resolutions, but 2013 is shaping up a little differently. No pun intended. In keeping with this, the Chinese Year of the Snake, I’ve adopted the Year of the Racing Snake mantra with shaping up as my goal. I wanted to try something new, something with a bit more ‘meaning’, something not in a gym. Yoga was the obvious choice. I’d done a couple classes in a former life, but they were in traditional gyms and unconvincing. Recently a Racing Snake friend of mine suggested a hot yoga trial at Yoga Zone in Cape Town and I decided to give it a bash. I’m only 10 days in but I’ve been to 8 sessions and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Hell, I even caught myself running to a class last week to be on time. I’ve never hot-footed it to any exercise class in my life. Okay, so you sweat for the First Team and it’s frustrating to not be able to balance or bend like some of the other
bitches people in the class, but it’s a process. And if you’re okay with that, you’ll go a long way in yoga.
I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who finds motivation in having the right gear for the job. You know the feeling, it’s how those new running shoes make you want to go for a run. That. So, in an effort to stay motivated, I decided to taunt myself by doing a little online window shopping. I find exercise gear to be ludicrously expensive, and yoga gear is no exception, but here’s how to look yogalicious, with most of the best stuff designed by Stella McCartney for Adidas.
I haven’t managed to find any yoga pants I like online, hence why I didn’t include any. If you do, please share.
