Elizabeth Jagger is the face of Wrangler’s new cellulite reducing, moisturising Denim Spa range which launched this month. The collection infused with moisturising and slimming ingredients promises to protect skin from the “dehydrating effects” of wearing denim. Retailing for GBP85 and in a range of styles, these Denim Spa jeans are available in Aloe Vera, Olive Extract and Smooth Legs options.  It is the Smooth Legs version which makes the boldest claim – to reduce cellulite. Infused with algae extracts, retinol and caffeine, the style was clinically tested by the Institut Adriant in France, where after four weeks of wearing the jeans for eight hours a day, five days a week over six weeks, 69% of the panel claimed that the appearance of their thighs had improved.

The Smooth Legs style reportedly lasts for 15 days’ wear (or four to six washes), after which a reload spray can be applied after each wash to continue to reap the jeans’ beauty benefits. In total the jeans can retain their cosmetic effects for around 67-95 wears, according to Wrangler.

Not having to moisturise prior to donning a pair of tight jeans is a win, I’m sure you’ll agree, but I’m not convinced. In the end, after enough washes, don’t these jeans simply revert to being plain ol’ Wranglers? I’m fine with that, by the way, but I don’t think I’ll be lured in by the promise of orange-peel free pins.

    1. Total rubbish. 1. I don’t for one minute believe that this works and 2. I think it’s irresponsible marketing to pretend that wearing a certain article of clothing will reduce cellulite when the only way to get long term results is eating better and exercising more. Another example of how big brands prey on the vulnerabilities of women to spin profits.
