I really fell in love with this brand when I listened to the How I Built This podcast featuring Spanx founder and phenom, Sara Blakely. You need to listen to it. It’ll inspire your Spanx off. So often we forget the grit, determination and near-failure behind so many of the brands we know and love today. In a nutshell, Sara Blakely was a typewriter salesperson by day and hosiery-prototype peddler by night. She literally begged hosiery buyers to just try a pair of her Spanx on, and sometimes had to force women into a bathroom cubicle to demostrate their prowess. No one believed in her and hosiery manufacturers didn’t want to help. Until someone took a chance on her and the rest, thanks to grit in bucket-loads, is history. Sara’s net worth is now $1,08B. What a boss.
Okay, so the Spanx shape-wear product is amazing (you already know this) and they’ve now extended into lingerie, leggings and even maternity wear. The leggings are now available in South Africa and they’re phenomenal. I recently got my paws on a pair of the black faux leather structured leggings and I’ve been living in them lately. The leggings range comes in Structured, Seamless, Active and EveryWear and the selection is pretty colourful and diverse. These rose structured ankle leggings are next on my lust-list. I’ve taken a few snaps to demonstrate their fit and flexibility; I think you can easily dress these up or down. I apologise in advance for the gratuitous bum shot, but I wanted a close-up showing the high-waist which I love, and also their bum-lifting powers. Spanx really do suck it all in and smooth it nicely.

Thanks so much to Deen Schroeder for these awesome pics!
