My Lula Collection Moses Basket
I’ve always loved the idea of a Moses basket for baby naps in the lounge, on the lawn, anywhere really. They’re not only light-weight and super easy to manoeuvre, they’re super pretty too. There are some incredible weaves and designs coming out of Ghana and I stumbled upon Salt Rock based company Lula who are sourcing and importing their lovely wares. All of Lula’s baskets are hand-woven and each one takes 2-3 days to make; woven with indigenous elephant grass, by local artisans. Each basket is unique, some with beautiful genuine leather handles and in the case of the Moses basket, a custom easy-breath baby mattress and fitted cotton sheet. I wanted something really plain, so chose a simple weave with a black trim and brown leather handles. I also ordered a stand from them which I’m really glad I did; Lula’s stands are individually hand-crafted and the nicest I’ve seen locally. I find the stand comes in handy when you don’t want to put the Moses basket on the floor or perched on top of something. You can check out Lula’s Instagram page here for some of their amazing patterned Moses baskets, as well as the rest of the collection which includes pet baskets, storage baskets and plant baskets. All of the baskets Lula source are Fair Trade and ethically sourced.
Here are a few snaps of mine in and around our home; our little guy likes being outside and naps in the shade are his favourite.
