Stoep-life at The Stack, Cape Town
I was in Cape Town recently and met my friends Camilla and Emma at The Stack in Gardens for a couple o’ cocktails on the stoep. This 160 year old Georgian property, originally Leinster Hall, is now home to this members-only club and public brasserie. I’m a huge fan of big stoeps and lounging around outside amidst greenery. Honestly, in the chaos of Cape Town’s summer season and people clambering to get to the beach bars, I’d much rather be here. We didn’t eat, other than bar nibbles, so I can’t remark on the food, however the setting is ideal and the cocktails are killer. If you’re a gin and tonic fan, then you need to try The Stack (pictured below). The chilli tequila cocktail is also off the chain. The decor is completely over the top, in a good way, and parts of it have a very Wes Anderson feel to me. The building survived a severe fire a few months ago, but she’s been restored to her former glory and is back in action. Here are a few snaps from our stoep session at The Stack, including Alain’s new tattoo, and Tigger, Camilla’s NBF.
