Smile Dammit!
Leave a commentThe 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Breakfast Xpress Show team is at it again with another Smile Dammit initiative, this time aimed at gym-goers post workout. Ja, boet. Highveld is hooking okes up with doughnuts as they leave the gym session they’ve just klapped. Schweet. Jokes aside, I love this campaign, brought to you by Blackriver FC. We all take life far too seriously and should just flippen’ smile dammit. Here’s what they did along William Nicol when they brought spring to Jozi a little early.
Swoon. And #SmileDammit.

Diesel Says “F*ck Digital” With Facepark
Leave a commentFor a bunch of stupid-heads, these Diesel guys are pretty clever. I’d love to poke a few people in the park. With a giant finger, of course. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Maybe It’s Your Breath
Leave a commentI love Clorets’ recent ‘Maybe It’s Your Breath‘ tactical campaign that took advantage of DVD covers and posters of well-known rom-com titles including Never Been Kissed, He’s Just Not That Into You and The 40 Year-Old Virgin. We feel for these characters, we cringe for them, after all, it’s not their fault they suck at finding love/sex/marriage. Or is it? Perhaps it’s their rank breath that prevented them from getting laid. Enter Clorets Eliminator. The campaign hints that perhaps the outcome of the films would have been different if the lead character’s breath had been better [because he/she'd chewed Clorets]. This humour completely appeals to me and I think the campaign is great, however it reeks of advertising that’s seeking purely to win an award but was never actually exposed to anyone. I hope I’m wrong.

Get Lucky with VW Date Drive
Leave a commentYesterday I received a nondescript package from VW containing a sexy little black box and a DVD. The box contained a tooth-brush branded with ‘Expect Success. Polo GTI Date Drive.’ I see what they did there. Well played, VW. The concept is pretty straight forward:
“Kicking off in May, Date Drive will see the public signing up on the official Date Drive website to stand a chance to use the New Polo GTI on a memorable date. While remaining anonymous, the daters will collect the vehicle with their prospective partners being unaware that the sexy car is actually on loan for their first date.To further increase their dating prowess, participants will be given a handy ‘dating kit’, jam-packed with cologne, gum and other essentials which can assist in making the date a success.”
Nice.
So, all you singletons out there, click here to win a Date Drive and experience what it feels like to own the new Polo GTI. And follow @DateDrive on twitter here.

Enter the 5th Dimension & WIN with 5 Gum
Leave a commentWrigley has recently introduced 5 Gum (the guys behind this year’s live streaming from Coachella) to the South African market and are launching with 2 exclusive sensory experiences in Johannesburg and Cape town. The event is a 3D visual mapping orgasm using visual lighting projections created by YOU, a world first, set to the live beats of French electro master, Etienne de Crecy (hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as the next Daft Punk).
This is how you can get your paws on ‘em tickets:
1. Log on to www.5gum.co.za before May 16th and create your visual lighting projection. The creators of the best projections will each win 4 tickets to the exclusive launch events. Here’s a little inspiration:
2. 5 Gum will also be hosting 4 ‘teaser’ events which are free and open to all, 2 in Johannesburg (May 17 & 18) and 2 in Cape Town (May 20 & 21). Projections will be show-cased here (set to Etienne’s beats, of course) and you can get your paws on free 5 Gum samples and some golden tickets to the exlusive launch events. Log on to Facebook for more event details.
5 Gum promises “a sensory experience with every chew”, and is packaged in a sexy black envelope with individually wrapped sticks. I can only vouch for the Turbulence (a mouthwatering watermelon) flavour which I’ve tried and luuuurve. The other 2 flavours available include Cobalt (a cooling peppermint) and Electro (a tingling spearmint).
Here’s an introduction to Etienne de Crecy, the 5 Experience headline DJ:

Wedding Invitation Awesomeness
Leave a commentWarning: this wedding invitation will make yours look sh*t.
“This wedding invite designed by Kelli Anderson has a 45 RPM record player built right into it.The resulting booklet is comprised of a cover, two inner pages, a letterpressed band (with instructions and a tear-off RSVP postcard), and a flexdisc on a screwpost. The recipient bends the second page of the booklet back to create a tented “arm.” With the needle placed, they then carefully spin the flexidisc at 45 RPM (ish) to hear the song. The sewing needle travels the length of the song and produces the sound. Its vibrations are amplified by the thin, snappy paper to which it is adhered. To keep the needle down on the record, we reinforced the back of the “tent” with a spray-mounted half page of heavier cardstock. To reduce friction between the acetate flexidisc and the backing cover, we had the inside of the booklet laminated to be slick and conducive to hand-spinning.”
Put that in your Royal Wedding Pipe and smoke it.

When Facebook Becomes a Book
Leave a commentThis is how DDB Paris met Bouygues Telecom‘s brief to launch their facebook platform. After only 2 days Bouygues Telecom had received 15, 000 fans and the 1000 limited edition books were snapped up in only an hour. Nice. I look forward to doing this in a few decades and printing off my lifebook.
